Yeah, maybe. I’m less inclined to agree with you. I’m sure quite a few people wouldn’t agree. But thanks.

Tony. Look at everything you’ve done. It doesn’t matter what other people say. You’ve saved lives. Hundreds, maybe thousands in this city alone. Let’s not get started on the planet, okay? Yeah, we’ve had our fair share of mistakes, but that doesn’t make you any less of an Avenger than I. Sure, you’ve got more flair than the rest of us that might raise a brow or two, but what matters is you’ve got the guts and heart that make up what this team needs. Even if it’s a glowing blue thing in the middle of your chest, it’s all the same to me. Alright? You’re a damn good soldier and a damn good friend. Don’t let the rest fool ya.

textbooknarcissist:

Well, hey. You’re not dreaming it up. And maybe you didn’t expect all this to happen, but it did. Sometimes that’s the way the world works. Just embrace it, pal. You deserve it. All the stuff you’ve been through, you deserve happiness.

I think we all do. All these heroes, super or not, do. I mean, look at yourself. I can say you’ve done one hell of a job going from a weapons guy to Iron Man. We’ve had our ups and downs, and I’ve certainly said a few things that were less than justified against you, but really. You deserve it too, Tony.

Ah, great! [nervously taps the neck of the bottle] Now I can’t stop thinking about it. I won’t be able to sleep for weeks.

[Takes another drink] Stop that, would you? You’re making me nervous. It’s gonna be fine. And it’ll be over before you know it. Don’t worry so much, she’s gonna love whatever you come up with.

[Sheepishly smiles and nods] Okay, okay. I’ll try. No guarantees, but I’ll try. I guess I just get nervous from time to time that I’m just dreaming all this up. I mean, think about it… I’m a man out of time, I wouldn’t expect all this to happen and make sense for myself, let alone Peggy. It’s just… wow, you know?

Who else can keep Iron Man on his toes, right? Well, I’ll talk to her, I doubt she’ll say no to old Cap, right?

My thoughts exactly. Nah, she won’t. She’s always eager to help.

I’m serious, family…

“So, I’ve gone from having Captain America as my father to a milk man named David. Great.” Teo snickered, taking a drink from his water bottle. Hey, if everyone else was going along with it, so could he. Teo snorted, looking down at the dog who was now sleeping soundly, it’s front legs nestled under his head and it’s hind legs stretched out on the couch. “He’s not that big…” Maybe it was because he was use to seeing him so much that Teo’d gotten use to his size. “Oh, naw, I was just pulling your leg. I like old movies. Y’know, Indiana Jones, Star Wars… I don’t think I know any of the newer movies.” He shrugged, slightly bothered by his lack of knowledge.

“Mhm,” Peggy responded, rustling Teo’s hair gently. “He’s huge,” she argued, shaking her head. Thunder was something that she was going to take a while to get used to. Peggy had never had any pets growing up, so she didn’t understand the fondness for them quite yet. Perhaps in time she would. “Those movies are considered old? Weren’t they made in the 80s?” Her eyebrows rose as she snuck a peek up at Steve to gather his reaction. “Perhaps we ought to venture into the newer movies together then. It will be a family endeavor.” They had to start somehow, right? She’d just ask around; perhaps Pepper would know enough about movies to help out with selecting some they could enjoy.

Indiana Jones? Star Wars? Steve had no clue what they were talking about. The 1980’s or 2000’s, he wouldn’t know the difference. “I think Nat or Carol mentioned Star Wars before, but… All I got is a name and nothing else on that.” He shrugged looking down at Peggy, then shaking his head. “I guess we’re going to have to make these movie nights a regular thing. We’ll all take turns picking something. Sound like a plan, team?”

Oh, of course. I’ll get a hold of her. I know she’s busy with work, but if you give Pepper break, [laughs] I know she’d know exactly what I’m looking for.

Hey, I offer her plenty of time off. She just refuses it. She’s a workaholic, through and through.

[Smiles and nods] Alrighty, deal. And thanks, really, Tony. I know she’ll appreciate too. I guess I’ll just try to get as much done for now and keep it a secret. I’d like to make the whole experience a surprise, ya know? Hmm… I might actually ask Jan for help. I’m not exactly sure about rings and all that.

Yeah, secrecy’s the key. Women seem to like surprises. [Chuckles] Jan would love to help you. You know how she gets about weddings. I’m sure Pepper would be happy to help too, if you want to ask her. She’s good with this kind of thing, and she knows Peggy pretty well.

Oh, of course. I’ll get a hold of her. I know she’s busy with work, but if you give Pepper break, [laughs] I know she’d know exactly what I’m looking for.
